The Seoul Metropolitan Government (SMG) proudly announces its selection as the host for the prestigious "Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants" awards ceremony in March 2024. This recognition comes at a time when Seoul's reputation as an international gourmet city is soaring, fueled by the growing global fascination with Korean food and cuisine. Anticipation is high for the upcoming global gastronomic event set to unfold in Seoul next March, drawing together renowned chefs and food experts from around the world.
In 2023, four Korean restaurants—Mosu (15th), Onjium (23rd), Mingles (28th), and Born & Bred (47th)—earned coveted spots on the top 50 list. Notably, they also secured positions in the "100 Taste of Seoul" rankings, a distinction they have maintained for four consecutive years.
Scheduled for the last week of March next year, the event will encompass a series of dinners, forums, and an awards ceremony, where the best restaurants in Asia will be revealed. The occasion is expected to attract 800 representatives from the global culinary community. The specific date and venue will be confirmed in December.
With a strategic focus on promoting Korean cuisine as a high-value tourist resource, and enhancing awareness of Seoul as a culinary destination, the city successfully secured the hosting rights in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, Food, and Rural Affairs.
Seoul is committed to meticulous preparation, showcasing the diverse charms of Korean cuisine and the unique gastronomic culture of the city during the event. The aim is to not only celebrate culinary excellence but also to encourage tourists to delve into the rich gastronomic offerings that Seoul has to offer.
