Gucci Osteria: Fashionable and Fun Dining

Situated within the iconic Gucci Garden in Florence’s historic Piazza della Signoria, Gucci Osteria offers a one-of-a-kind culinary experience that blends haute cuisine with high fashion.

This collaboration between the luxury fashion house and acclaimed chef Massimo Bottura results in a dining experience that is as imaginative as it is delicious. The restaurant embodies the spirit of Florence’s rich artistic heritage while pushing the boundaries of traditional Italian cuisine.

Chef Karime López & Taka Kondo

From Mexico City to the heart of Italy, Karime López brings a world of flavors to Gucci Osteria Florence. Her culinary journey began at Enrique Olvera’s famed Pujol in 2007, followed by a stint at Noma in Denmark. With additional experience at Tokyo's Ryugin under chef Seiji Yamamoto and with Virgilio Martinez Véliz in Peru, López embodies a global perspective. She honed her skills further at Massimo Bottura’s Osteria Francescana in Modena, becoming the first Mexican woman to earn a Michelin star. Her inventive cooking merges Italian tradition with influences from her travels, creating dishes that are as vibrant and daring as the Gucci brand.

Takahiko "Taka" Kondo, born in Tokyo, also channels his diverse culinary background into his work at Gucci Osteria. His passion for Italian cuisine was ignited in his hometown and led him to Italy, where he joined Massimo Bottura's team at Osteria Francescana in 2005. After nearly two decades in Modena, including serving as sous-chef, Taka now co-leads the Gucci Osteria kitchen alongside López. His mastery of Italian flavors, refined by years of experience, complements López’s creativity, resulting in a dynamic partnership that elevates the dining experience at Gucci Osteria.

Global Influence with an Italian Soul

The concept of Gucci Osteria is all about breaking boundaries. While grounded in the flavors and traditions of Italy, the restaurant’s menu takes diners on a global culinary adventure. López draws from her international experience to create dishes that surprise and delight, blending Italian staples with influences from around the world. This multicultural fusion is reflected in signature dishes like “Taka Bun”, a soft steamed bun filled with pork belly, a nod to Japanese street food, and “Risotto Camouflaged as Pizza”, a playful twist on two iconic Italian dishes.

The restaurant’s menu changes frequently, driven by seasonality and López’s creative inspiration. Each dish is meticulously crafted to represent a fusion of cultures while staying true to Italian ingredients, making every dining experience feel both familiar and refreshingly new.

The Charm: A Fusion of Art, Fashion, and Cuisine

Dining at Gucci Osteria feels like stepping into a work of art. The restaurant's intimate setting, with just a few tables, creates an exclusive atmosphere that feels private yet inviting. The interiors, designed by Gucci’s Creative Director Alessandro Michele, reflect the fashion house’s eclectic, maximalist aesthetic. Rich jewel tones, whimsical details, and Gucci-branded motifs are woven throughout the space, blending seamlessly with Florence’s historic charm.

The restaurant’s location within the Gucci Garden—a concept store and exhibition space celebrating the brand’s heritage—further enhances the experience. After dining, guests can explore the immersive Gucci Garden museum, which showcases fashion, art, and history under one roof.

Service and wines...

The service at Gucci Osteria mirrors the high standards one would expect from a fine dining establishment tied to a luxury brand. The staff is not only attentive but also passionate about the food and concept, offering thoughtful explanations of each dish and its inspirations. The service is polished but personable, allowing diners to relax and enjoy the experience without feeling rushed or overwhelmed by formality.

Gucci Osteria’s wine program complements its globally inspired menu, offering a curated selection of both Italian and international wines. The sommelier works closely with Chef López to create pairings that enhance the unique flavors of each dish. The wine list highlights some of Tuscany’s finest labels but also ventures into lesser-known regions, offering a selection that is as diverse and eclectic as the menu itself.
